Even the driest desert can also bloom with favorable weather conditions and Atacama Desert in Chile is no exception.
Being the driest non-polar desert in the world, it is a barren wasteland. With heavy rainfall during October and November in the southern hemisphere the flowers that hibernate underneath the earth’s surface start blooming. Due to the effect of Hurricane Patricia, the desert has unprecedented bloom twice this year and for this the Atacama tourism is expecting more than twenty thousand tourists to visit the area this year.
